In Patan's famous and world heritage site Ranki Vav (Ran ki Vav or Rani Ki vav) tourists can also get entry for 10 days without any entry fee.

Under Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav (Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav) Modi government took a big decision in which the government announced free entry to all monuments and museums and historical places from August 5 to 15. Union Culture Minister Kishan Reddy said in an important announcement. No tickets will be charged at all historical monuments in the country from 5 to 15 August 2022 under Ke Azadi Ka Amrit Mohotsav . That means people will be able to see all the monuments of the country for free for 10 days.

A ticket is usually required to enter there. But now under Azadi ka Amrit Mohotsav , Modi government has made entry there free for 10 days. Patan is the headquarters of Patan districtThis wav is located on the banks of the Saraswati river, two kilometers to the north-west of the city. Importantly, this heritage site is also famous in the world among places to see in Gujarat.

World Heritage

This ancient historical site of North Gujarat has been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Located on the banks of the Saraswati river, this wav is a gift from the Solanki era of the Gujarat. The founder of the Solanki dynasty was Moolaraj Solanki, his son Bhimdev I, Bhimdev's son Karnadev, and Karnadev's son Siddharaj Jaisingh, during whose time the construction of the Rudra Mahalaya was completed in Siddhapur . 

The history of Ranaki Vav

Ranaki Vav is more than 900 years old. Ranaki Vav was constructed in AD. It lasted from 1022 to 1062-63. In time, this seed was washed away by the flood of Saraswati river. Excavations at Patan started in 1968 by the Department of Archeology, Government of India and the Ranaki Vav was fully excavated in 1980. Among all the wavs of Gujarat, Ranaki Vav Shirmore is the most common and that is why it has got a place as an archaeological heritage from UNESCO.

 

The mouth of Speciality Ranaki

Vav opens towards the east. Ranaki Vav is 64 meters long, 20 meters wide and 27 meters deep. It is seven stories deep. This vav is a jaya type vav. Artistic idols of gods and goddesses as well as attendant nymphs and nagkanyas are also carved in the Vav. There is also a small gate below the world famous stepwell, which has a tunnel about 30 km long inside. This tunnel opens at Siddhapur in Patan Currently this tunnel is closed due to stones and mud but only for such history Ranaki Vav is a tourist attraction. 

125 km away from Ahmedabad comes the city of Patan where this world heritage site  Ranaki Vav is located. The history of Ranaki Vav is more than 900 years old which is why a large number of tourists visit it. In the year 2014, UNESCO declared it as a World Heritage Site.
