Modi government gave good news. Ayushman Bharat Yojana will be expanded, premiums will also be reduced
- The government will expand the Ayushyaman Bharat Yojana
- Premiums will come down and benefit more people
- Currently, more than 10.74 crore families are benefiting from this scheme
The central government is the considering an expanding the Ayushyaman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Health Ministry officials have given information about this. Officials said the government is considering expanding the coverage of the scheme's health insurance scheme and offering it to new beneficiaries at a nominal premium. This yojana was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in 2018. The aim of Ayushman Bharat Yojana is to provide health insurance to the economically weaker sections. The scheme provides an insurance cover of Rs 5 lakh to more than 10.74 crore families.
Benefits will be available at a nominal premium
"We are in the process of further strengthening the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana so that all people can benefit from it," a senior government official said about the expansion of the scheme. It is also being seriously considered whether, if this happens, it will be much more than the current list of beneficiaries.
The middle class group will also benefit
Said the official, the middle class income group which is neither rich nor poor. Most of the people in this category are often not even covered by any health insurance plan. This is a large part of the class, which needs attention. The Ayushman Bharat Yojana currently provides health cover to the poor and vulnerable sections, identified using the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) and Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY) databases. Officials said that the health insurance premium is currently around Rs 1200-1300. Central and state governments bear its cost in the ratio of 60:40.
The government will increase the coverage of the scheme
Many people earn Rs 1,00,000 per annum, while many earn Rs 10,00,000 per annum. Going forward the income also keeps on increasing. But still they often cannot bear all the health expenses. This is the reason why we need to widen the beneficiary list and the government is seriously considering expanding the scheme.
