new Delhi. Aadhaar has become an important document for any citizen in India to prove his identity. A 12-digit unique identification number is issued to the citizen of India by the central government. The responsibility of issuing and managing a transfusion number has been entrusted to the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). 

The Aadhaar database maintains the required information and contains details of every Indian citizen such as name, address, mobile number, photo as well as his biometric information.

The Aadhaar card has become an essential and important government identification document for any citizen of India. Aadhaar card is not only your important identity document, but has also become mandatory for all essential services and facilities in India.

After enrollment for obtaining Aadhaar card and after getting Aadhar card, if you feel that some information is wrong in it, then you can get it corrected or updated. UIDAI provides online as well as offline facility to improve or update Aadhaar card. You can correct any mistake or get your information updated through the Aadhar Card Correction form. You do not have to pay any fees for getting updates or corrections within 4 days from the date of enrollment. However after 4 days you will have to pay a nominal fee of Rs 50 for any correction or update.

UIDAI earlier used to provide online facility to update name, address, mobile number as well as photograph in Aadhaar card. But now online process is available only for change of address. For other changes like name, mobile number, date of birth, e-mail address and photograph change, you will have to resort to offline process.

 

How to change your photo in Aadhaar card There are two options for this, with the help of which you can change the Aadhaar card photo. For this you can go to your nearest enrollment center or you can apply for change of photograph through post.

Aadhar card photo change through enrollment center Photograph comes under biometric data. Along with this comes fingerprints and iris scans. For changes in biometric data, you have to visit your nearest Aadhaar enrollment center. You can find Aadhaar enrollment center or Aadhaar service center by visiting the official website of UIDAI.

Download the Aadhaar enrollment / update form by going to the "Get Aadhaar" section on the homepage of UIDAI website. Fill the form correctly and submit it to the Aadhaar Enrollment Center. You have to follow the same procedure to get your biometric data captured again. Your fingerprints, retina scan and photograph will be re-captured at the enrollment center. The center officer will click your photo himself with his camera.

To update your Aadhaar information, you will have to pay a fee of Rs 50. The required data will be sent to the UIDAI Corporate Office. With the updated picture you will get a new Aadhaar card within about 90 days.
