Nowadays the government is trying at various levels to promote electric vehicles across the country. Now the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has also approved the new Electric Vehicle Policy-2022 for this. Government has made this policy 3D, here 3D means to achieve 3 different goals from this policy. First is that the government will give huge discounts to buyers on buying new electric vehicles, secondly, it will encourage the manufacturing of electric vehicles in the state, so that their cost comes down. Those who set up a third charging station or battery swapping center will be given several incentives by the government.
One lakh discount on purchase of electric car
Under the new policy of the Uttar Pradesh government, if a person buys a new electric vehicle in UP, he will get a huge discount. The discount will be applicable on electric 2-wheelers to 3-wheelers, cars and buses. The government will provide 15 percent subsidy on the factory price to electric vehicles purchased in the state. Additionally, on the first 2 lakh electric two-wheelers purchased in the state, per vehicle Rs. 5,000 discount will be available. At the same time, the government on the initial 50,000 electric three-wheelers at Rs. 12,000 discount. While in case of buying an electric car, the first 25,000 car buyers will get a discount of up to Rs 1 lakh.
20 lakh rupees will be saved on
buying a bus. The government has also announced a huge discount on the purchase of electric buses. A subsidy of up to Rs 20 lakh will be given to purchase the initial 400 electric buses in the state.
Free registration for 5 years
According to the Yogi government's new policy, all electric vehicles purchased in the state in the first three years will not have to pay road tax and registration charges. If a customer's electric vehicle is manufactured in UP, he will get this discount on purchasing the electric vehicle in the fourth and fifth year as well.
Subsidy on logistics vehicles too
The government has also proposed a 10 per cent subsidy on vehicles used in logistics or transport in the new policy. The discount will be for the initial 1000 e-goods carriers and will be up to a maximum of Rs. 1 lakh will be upto.
Promotion of EV and EV battery production
Apart from this, the government has also made a provision in the policy to promote electric vehicles and EV batteries in the state. A person setting up a battery manufacturing plant with a minimum capacity of 1 GW in the state will be given capital subsidy by the government. The first two ultra mega battery projects with an investment of Rs 1,500 crore or more will get this subsidy at the rate of 30 per cent on investment.
